Dastkar 2012 in Bangalore

Dastkar 2012 was a much awaited event for me. After accidently attending the Dastkar exibhition last year in Mekri circle, I was looking forward for this exibhition this year. At last, the announcement happened on their Facebook page. Overwhelmed I saved money to shop big time. There were so many new innovative creations this time. Uniqueness overflows in each and every stall. One factor that mesmerises is the innovative usage of each and every natural thing available like Elephant dung, Banana fibre, Coconut shells, Jute etc,
There was this stall that used tetrapacks like Tropicana, Jumpin etc and used them in making creative, colourful purses, wallets, books etc,.

Everything made of jute and dry grass.

Colorfully porcelin

The famous Kolapuri footwear

Jhootas made of genuine camel leather (Each pair INR 800)

                                                         Decorative screen hangings.

                                              Bamboo made wallclock

                                                           Colorful elagant and fragile

Tetrapacks can be more than their intent of creation.

                                                  Everything made of elephant dung.

                                                 Made of wood.

Pink panther nah, pink tiger.

Painting fetish

I have always had this great admiration for paintings. I feel painting may just be an art , but for the painter its a kinda relishment. There are times, I feel ,I can continue staring at the paintings for any longer. There are many types of innovative paitings I have come across -
  • Glass painting
  • Nail paiting
  • Tajavoor paitings, the o ne that comes with intricate turns and twists
  • Water painting
There are these modern paiting where you can knit many stories around the paiting. Now let me treat you eyes with my click collection. One most important thing is to know, clicking a picture of paiting is a violation of copyrite and is usually restricted in art galleries and exibhitions.

Friends day out!

Today morning at 9'o clock , I receive a call. It is my girl gang! A spontaneous meet up plan! I said OK for 1'o clock meet at my adda - CKP. And there I was, an hour late, and to my surprise there was the usual late latif Vara yet to arrive. That relieved me of getting blamed for late coming. I was disappointed as there were n many stalls. Weather was gloom and started raining. Had nothing to do but stay indoors and go around the Saree exhibition. Personally I am not a Saree person. Both my friends got busy at each saree stall, touching, sniffing, enquiring and discussing. I meanwhile was busy with a  few calls.

Unexpectedly I ended up buying the Kolapuri leather bag and a cotton silk stole and my friend a Saree. Perfect get out except that the weather did not permit us to wander around. It was noon and time to disperse when Vara took us to a famous chat stop in Loafer's street (That is how it is lovingly called by Carmalites , got this important information from Ex-Carmalite Vara). Unusual Mexican chat, which looked like pizza had been churned and mixed with some boiled Rajma beans. I made a safe choice with a chocolate Truffle pastry!

Now enjoy the pictures!

Lame weekend!

Hi people,
Last weekend was a very slow one. Weather added more gloom to it. I watched Ice Age 4. Liked it, but not as much as I loved the other parts. I just get more and more crazy over Sid aka FireKing. Apart from the movie, the weekend was quiet a laid back, lazy weekend.
This time, I got a few pics to share with you guys about my ride to Chitrakala Parishat. Although empty, the place is so serene and tranquilizing, you can just sit there for any long lost in thoughts, just by yourself reading an interesting novel or something.
